Farmers - The Backbone of our Nation

What is the first thing that strikes your mind when you hear 'farmers'? well in most cases it is either suicide or poverty but when I think of farmers, it is, "they are the providers of luxury called food ", at the cost of their lives or their starvation, hardworking and dedicated people who feed the empty stomachs of India.

It is not uncommon that farmers are the backbone of our country with 70 percent of rural households depends on agriculture for livelihood and 82 percent of them are small-scale and marginal not only that but they also contribute about 18 percentiles of our country's GDP. In 2009, India was the world's third-largest producer of eggs, oranges, coconuts, tomatoes also India is the largest producer of wheat, rice, etc.

The question that now arises is that, why do suicide and poverty run along with the farmers? Why they are less educated and get the need to strike for their good deeds? If these questions remain unanswered for a longer time the economy of India will face depression.

Children don't want to opt for farming because of the harassment and injustice they (farmers) face or they are not even given the opportunity by their parents. Even when the child is small, he is made aware of engineering, doctor, businessmen, businesswoman but a farmer. However, they forgot the fact that without farmers, mankind cannot progress. 'A farmer is a magician who produces money from the mud.' Therefore, the future of farmers lies in our hands and the future of our country in their hardworking souls.
